get their ideas and suggestions. It can certainly generate greater support for
policies when they are finally rolled out to your teams.
There are benefits to viewing policies as a tool to create better
employee relations. They help staff understand the parameters in which they
work and help eliminate uncertainty. They are a very good reference point for
Managers when issues do arise. It can be a very good place to start when
addressing Employee Relations matters.
It is a challenge to write a policy that caters for all eventualities.
If you try to cater for all the situations that may occur, your policy may
become too large and detailed. While you want some degree of detail and
clarity, you also want the policies to be user-friendly for staff and Managers.
The policies you have in place should be reviewed periodically and
updated as required.
